Since the mid-1970s, the artist Heiner Meyer has been exploring the work of Pablo Picasso, probably the most important artist of the 20th century. His extensive oeuvre has influenced artists not only of his generation, but also Popart artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Hamilton and others, right up to the present day.
Heiner Meyer's works refer to numerous variations of Picasso's work, which can be both the main element and an object and integral part of a painting. Irony is also a component of the work, as is the respectful engagement with the master of modernism.
In the group of more recent works, the spectator himself becomes a secondary actor, as the painting already represents the contemplation of a Picasso painting. The exhibition in Palma includes 25 paintings and bronze sculptures, as well as a Louis Vuitton suitcase from the Trunkmania project.
Gerhardt Braun Gallery will open its doors on Saturday, September 23th at 6 p.m. at Calle Sant Feliu 15, 07012 Palma.
