GERHARDT BRAUN GALLERY MADRID - Calle Claudio Coello 72, 28001 Madrid
The recent sculptures, installations, drawings and videos in the Flux solo exhibition by Francesca Martí embody the ideas of constant change, shifting perspectives and transformation in our world today. Martí's life-sized sculptures Saturn, Growing Moon and Serpent over Shanghai evolve from her fascination with celestial bodies, migration and the imbalance we feel when we are overloaded by non-stop technology and communication. She asks questions about how we are evolving. Other works are made from groups of her small Believers figures, which move across images of cities, dynamic landscapes and for the first time, scenes from nature.
"The Flux series is about how we are still part of nature despite technology", says Martí. "It's about what humans can create from chaos, how we have the strength to survive, how we are all connected."
Introduction speech by Mark Gisbourne, with poetry by Marifé Santiago-Bolaños. Francesca Martí - Passage and Presence, a new bilingual 208-page book published by DCV (Berlin), will also be released.
Gerhardt Braun Gallery will open its doors on Thursday, September 14th at 8.00 p.m. at Calle Claudio Coello 72, 28001 Madrid.
