“A line is a dot that went for a walk” – Paul Klee Based on Paul Klee's quote, for Sebastian Gumpinger the line is the starting point of his work. In his art, the line is not just a static element, but a dynamic force that initiates a dialogue between the work of art and the viewer. The play of light and reflection plays with perception and the line appears three-dimensional in space. In addition to his “Cut Outs”, in which he cuts steel and copper into shapes, Sebastian Gumpinger will also show new works on canvas and a free-standing sculpture. Gumpinger was born in 1977 in Hannover (Germany) and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, where he was a master student in Günther Förg’s class. Gumpinger has been exhibiting since 2013 and now works between Munich and Mallorca. Gerhardt Braun Gallery will open its doors on Friday, May 10th at 7.30 p.m. at Calle Sant Feliu 15, 07012 Palma.
