The exhibition Unfolding Light presents, for the first time in Mallorca, a comprehensive overview of twenty years of work by Maxim Wakultschik. Around 40 works trace his artistic journey—from the early Reflection Boxes, through glass shards and relief works, to Multipersonalities and his most recent Optical Portraits. Each series reveals a new facet of his artistic language and reflects his consistent search for modes of expression at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. At the core of his work are light, color, and perception. Constants that run like a common thread through Wakultschik’s oeuvre. His pieces combine meticulous craftsmanship with a surprising variety of materials, continuously opening up new visual dimensions to the viewer. This retrospective invites the audience to follow his artistic development as a multilayered dialogue between tradition and contemporary innovation. Spanning from small-scale pieces to large-format reliefs, his work unfolds as something in constant motion, yet unmistakably bearing his unique signature.
