GERHARDT BRAUN GALLERY ART PALACE - Calle Sant Feliu 10, 07012 Palma de Mallorca
“High Gloss” shows the works of the last years of the worldwide known pop art artist, Heiner Meyer.
His works have been shown in more than 250 solo and group exhibitions, from San Francisco to Beijing. He has exhibited, among others, with Andy Warhol, Rauschenberg and Lichtenstein.
Born in Bielefeld 1953, he began his career as an assistant to Salvador Dalí in Portlligat and later studied art at the Braunschweig Academy of Art. His works are in numerous museums and private collections around the world and he has received numerous awards during his career. Heiner Meyer has managed to capture on his canvases the consumer culture of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century through images of cinema, fashion, TV, luxury cars and elite sports. Employing the bright colors of advertising and a wry sense of humor, his work often satirizes these subjects.
Meyer is an artist who has managed to translate our consumer psyche into images through a juxtaposition of images that belongs to our past, interact with our present and for sure, will reach our future.
