GERHARDT BRAUN GALLERY MADRID - Calle Claudio Coello 72, 28001 Madrid
Gerhardt Braun Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of “GEOMETRÍA URBANA” by Sebastian Gumpinger.
Gumpinger examines the line as a medium that interacts with space and our perception. His “Cut Outs” emerge from the artist’s direct work, using an angle grinder on polished metal surfaces. Although the plates are very thin, they gain physical presence, and reflections create volumes that are only perceived through the viewer’s movement. These works sit between drawing, relief, and optical illusion.
Sebastian Gumpinger’s work transforms the energy of the city into an artistic language. He draws inspiration from urban environments, where the line functions as a visual statement: in graffiti it acts as a mark, understood in urban culture as a form of non-verbal communication in public space. The line embodies thought, action, and attitude; it does not describe, it positions itself.
In “GEOMETRÍA URBANA”, the line becomes a philosophical category: it organizes space, marks differences, and remains a direct physical expression. Perception, action, and meaning are always interconnected.
Gerhardt Braun Gallery will open its doors on Thursday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. at Calle Claudio Coello 72, 28001 Madrid.
